What is your background?
I’m a west Texas girl at heart since I was born in El Paso, but I call Dallas home. I moved to Texas when I was 10 years old. In a twist of face, I met my husband-to-be that same year. Years later, I graduated from Stephen F. Austin in east Texas with a Bachelors of Science and a minor in business communications. Axe ’em! I dabbled in fashion, but found that I really enjoyed the production side of media and film. Little did I know that all those moves would lead to being able to work from home with the best little co-worker I could have, my 2 year old son.
What drew you to a career in marketing and advertising?
I realized fashion wasn’t my passion when I accidentally landed a temporary position at a production company. I ended up working my way up from executive assistant to filming/production. The production side is what really drew me to my career in marketing and advertising. I was working in filming and music productions, and all the while I was learning about how much marketing and advertising goes into it all. The final product is what’s exciting!
What is your favorite part about working at RocketBrand?
In all honesty, the people. I’ve always had a quote that stuck with me from college by an entrepreneur Jim Rohn who said, “You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.” The culture at our office and the people are what make working at RocketBrand one to look forward to. We really are family.
What do you do outside of work?
I’m a full time mom so when I’m not working I’m trying to make sure I keep my rambunctious toddler alive (he’s a boy and my husband is a Marine). I guess two children alive. As a family we love to check out new places to eat, and listen to live music. Food and music– that’s our thing.
What’s the best vacation you’ve ever been on?
The best vacation would have to be back when I was about 8 years old. My family and I went to this village in Mexico called Sayulita. To this day I can smell the fresh mangos that lined the dirt roads and the sound of the waves hitting the beach. Back then not many tourists knew about it and it was untouched paradise.
Whats your guilty pleasure movie or show?
My husband hates it but I’m obsessed with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills! That is my guilty pleasure of all time. I feel like I know them personally, and I can live vicariously through them.
Best Dallas BBQ?
Hard-Eight BBQ. Be prepared to leave smelling like smoked BBQ. If you order the prime rib or sirloin you won’t be disappointed.
What music are you currently listening to?
I’m not feeling good today so Mariposa Traicionera by Mana is on right now. It’s about heartbreak, but the melody is what’s relaxing and soothing.
What inspires you?
My mom and dad. They have shown me what it means to be selfless and to work hard for what you want. I hope one day my son will look back and think the same about us.
